here are some good comparison pics. pic 1 from left to right: armatus, tat, then scomb. like jd said it can be hard to tell if u have never seen an armatus in person. from my pics u can tell they are very easyily distinguishable. pic 4 is a very good for comparing armatus and tat.

meaning do scombs and tats get huge ass fangs too?

no problem, i hope the pics help.

armatus gets the biggest fangs, and they shed them about once a month. the rest of them ( tats, scombs, raphs) have big fangs too just not as big and only shed them about once every 6 months. their new teeth come in bigger and whiter every time. not very good info for ID purposes though.

so you can keep a few scombs together but do they do okay on there own

should be okay, but i think they like to schoal. anyways this is an armatus IDENTIFICATION thread. either start up yr own thread or do some research.

okay so i wen't to mikes killer fish and he didn't have the big payara any more but he did have young ones they looked like tats cause they were thicker and were tilted down more then scombs but one stood out it had a bigger mouth and a thicker body plus it was totally gold colored and had red fins all the rest had black fins and it had orange on that little fin behind the pectoral fin so i think it was an armatus and it was 4-5'' being sold for $75 good deal ? i really wanted to get it and sell it but somebody in colorado should really check this out seems like a really good deal
