4x3=12, and 4x1=4. 12x4, and then a height of about 3', although 30" would work.

Do you own an aro? Is it in a 10 or 12 foot tank? if it is it's a lucky one. Realistically, 90 inches by 30 is the minimum for a SA aro IMHO.

Hey guys.. point is these threads keep goin on and on.. people get flamed and there is a war of words.. and it never stops.. i mean.. all you guys.. richard, brian and others have years of experience dealing with aros.. silver and asians.. and me i've only had aros for the last 1.5 years.. i agree with what you guys say.. rather than asking time and again what is the minimum.. one should really consider what can be provided.. i have 4 silvers.. a 24" in a 120g and 3 silvers around 16" to 18" in another 120g.. they seem fine.. but again i'm def not satisfied with the space for their movement.. started on a 2500g tank and two days of digging one of the guys broke a waterline.. so we had to seal it.. decided on another space and digging is yet to start.. end of the day.. discussion after discussion people will sell these fish and people will buy these fish.. question is if you have one or multiple, its for yourself to ask ,knowing they need a large space would you be able to provide for them? people will ask this question time and again and keep them in the tanks they can provide..well some nice guys opt to give it to large aquariums.. :)

You are not getting my point

My paint all the people saying they need a massive tank don't have the large tank stated

Call the people who said that they need a massive tank step and show us what they think is a tank big enough to house the aro

If all the experts are not providing the big tanks stated I don't think it's right you should be telling people one thing but not providing that big tank themselves

hi richard.. 8X6X3.. and jus one chilli red or is it a whole bunch?

i'm exactly sayin the same thing.. like you've stated before i've seen huge silvers in very small tanks.. people say they need large setups (more like a wish/dream) but end up giving only what they can accommodate within their given resource(s).. i def would like to see all fellow mfkers who own aros(all types) list their tank size and number of aros they hold in the same.. my point is why ask when you know(unless you really dont know) what you can provide within your limits..

I have one aro in a 8x6x3 bot other fish as well but the aro has the top level of the tank to him self as I don't have all the aros I had in the past

There are probably multiple reasons for this. They don't yet have an aro the is of size to require the massive tank. They don't yet have the funds that is requires to provide a massive tank. They don't have the room to provide a massive tank. There are those that know what size tank that they should provide for their aros to thrive, but are only willing to provide a small tank that the aro can survive in. The last may be because of their own personal reasons, yet it still doesn't mean they shouldn't pass on good advice on tank size. Then there are also those who don't even have any experience in the matter and just regurgitate what ever info they've heard.

If everybody would just listen to me, the aro world would be a much happier place(((:grinno:)))

That seems to happen a lot, not only in the aro section. It seems as soon as one of the "experts" say something, the next time a similar question is asked, all the followers just repeat it. It would be comparable to you (Brian) recording your voice in a little bobble head, then the next time a "newb" asks a question, the rest of the wannabes can push the play button and tap the bobble head

I have a single 22" RTG in a 8x3x2. :D

I moved him out of a 180 when he was about 16". At that size, the 180 seemed to give him little room to swim.

I know there are many hobbyists who keep aros in 4x2x2 and 5x2x2 and 6x2x2 and it doesn't matter what anyone says, they will continue to keep them that way. All you need to do is go to sites based out of sgp to see the hordes who keep them that way.
