According to some people, even the iodine in iodized table salt wouldn't hurt fish, but I've never taken the chance. Norton is very clear with their packaging, iodized salt says IODIZED in big yellow letters... if it doesn't have this, it's good to use.

ok so ive started to put the aquarium salt in the tank for the "mold". so 2-3 pounds is right around where i want to be? now do i do a water change or not? this last water change i did i cleaned one of my filters. i wonder if that was where this problem came from? i just got this 120g tank about a month ago and moved my aro into it from my old 55g and added the pleco. i used to always clean my filter when i did water changes in the 55g. but i would only do it once a month but after reading on here im going to do them more often now. also i always use api stress coat+ when i add new water. i took some pics of the "mold" it was pretty had to get the right shot but i think i got a couple. ill post them up in a bit.

just tested the water again and the ammonia is at 0ppm and the nitrate is about 40-60 ppm. and here are the pics

hes eating and swimming around again! he ate 4 jumbo carnisticks a couple frozen krills and chunk of frozen blood worms

its plastic. those are the best pics i could get of the "mold/furry" stuff on him. does anyone know what it is? and will just salt take care of it?

Hmmm...

Well, you said that you cleaning filter once a month ? Hmm... it is very bed... if your filter is working and you have good flow you CAN NOT clean it. When you clean filter you are killing all good bacteria that are very important to have cycled tank.

I'm cleaning my filter every 6 or even 8 month.

Do you know what gives you a good filtration ? Why you need filter in your tank ? Do you know what is the cycle in tank ?

Let me know, if not, we can explain you here... this is very important !

Most likely is ur fishes r strugling for air in the water, basically ur fishes r having breathing problem, prlly due to to much gasses a lot less oxygen in there and also ur nitrate is too high as u r aware, granted the ammo is not 0 but .25 is not the real problem. I would take care the nitrate' problem add some aquarium salt and bump up the temp 3-4 degree then ur current temp and most likely it will fix the problem
