Bomber , trust me wire it up as in my picture. dont even try matching color to color. The guy that owns the company these lights came from showed me excactly to do it this way and all 6 of my LED's are done this way and they all work all day long. Raw cords are sold at home depot and lowes for about $2-3 dollars so please don't cut up your wifes blow-dryer!!
Yeah, it's a no-brainer project. And ditto on the bare cords at Lowes. They're dirt cheap, and come in different gauges. I wasn't expecting these lights to come wired with a plug. You guys are lucky they're already wired for standard household voltage and not 12/24v DC!! Otherwise, you'd have some fun trying to figure out what power supply you need and how to wire it all together. That's the reason I haven't gone the DIY route :)

Jose what do you mean 12/24 volt system? Do you live in a mobile trailer or something? Why would you need to convert it to that Type?

Noob @ wiring but can all 3 lamps or more be wired to one raw cord?

It would be safer if separate cords, Quit being a cheapskate Bomber. Plus if one cord you wouldn't be able to spread each light apart any way you want to..they would be too close together. If separate cords then you can move them around at will.

Saving my pennies for my mothership. Just wondering where to cut costs but if wiring all three to one would not give me the spread then 3 cords it is=)

Bomber is that your Black Arowana community tank> It looks killer! I have a video of my tank in the Peacock Bass media lounge. Please check it out. It's a feeding video also...

Yes it is thanks and I will check it out.

Hahah no, I mean a lot of the individual LED bulbs/fixtures/strips are wired for low voltage, and you need to get a step-down transformer/power supply to make them work for household voltage. This fixture is nice since it's intended to be used on higher voltages.

Like these fixtures for example. A friend of mine has some of these, and they're rated for 12-28v DC. You simply can't wire them up to a cord and plug them in. You need a power supply that will bring household voltage down to the required 12-18v

And here's a thought....do you know if these are dimmable? Would be awesome if you could hook these up to a dimmer switch. Anybody know?
