While I can't provide a pic of a wild asian aro, I'm curious as to why people doubt the potential for wild asian aros to be really nice when wild fish like arapaima and pbass have the colour they do.

while they are nice, the size of arapaima prevents most sales. actually i never heard of pbass until i joined mfk, i dont like them enough to own one.


to be honest mfk memebers arent like most people. i have a bluegill in a tank right now but i dont see more then perhaps 100 people doing that in the whole united states. i agree a wild arowanas may make a odd sale here or there, but i dont see how any poacher could support themselves unless the coloration is very good,i think it would be unnatural to have that color in the wild.

thank you, it still has its nice shape. but i dont think it would sell to most people, especially if they see the very colorful ones right next to it or they know the actual tank requirements for it.

They are still caught and traded. Do you really think that they aren't? I'll look for the article. I posted it before.

You may have missed my point. I wasn't talking about the fish itself, I was talking about the fact that a wild arapaima has blood red flanks. Why is it not possible for a wild arowana to potentially display similar colour?
