Yes thats a Diamond Trevally mate top right.
In front is an Indo Pacific Permit very nice, I know a few guys who would love to catch one.

yeh, me dad caught it on a cheap 15 buck 90's model rex hunt rod, with the original line attached, we were amazed we got it in the boat and that the line didnt break, took about 15 minutes, was about 65cm.

Hey Steve, Heres some toga, for now, no monster but theres an 75 in there (not on the mat),
Plus I put me sister onto a couple,
she used a CJR720 / 6' and Abu Revo STX with 8lb sunline super PE
and a 10lb leader, she learnt to cast it that day, also used an Anthrax 80.

I used a TD-A combo 2500+6-10lb 1 peice rod, 10lb PE and 10lb flurocarbon.
and a TD Sol baitcaster rod and TD HRF 30lb PE and 16lb Fluro, lures were anthrax 80, zoom horny toads, R2S Rovers 125's I think, and various snagless soft lures.

enjoy

Some nice Leis there Drew. Must be great to live on the Dawson .
Must admit I am not a big fan of lipgrips though, the teeth are not that sharp, I just use a jaw grip usually only get a few scratches. If you do it from the side and hold your thumb at an angle and put a little pressure on there tongue it immobilises them.
Takes a bit of practice but you have plenty of fish there to practice on.

yeah, lip grips can do damage, but I rarely use them,
only when i need to get the big toga to hand, then its layed out on the brag,
or when Im taking a freind, or family member out, they use the grips, saves them from dropping the fish. And grabbing a fish with me hand, done it many times, me hands are cut up pretty good.
I'll try to use the grips less, though it might be a while untill i can go fishing.

cheers

I know them as snub nosed dart. Great sport when caught in the surf. A good chew too if bled straight away.

These pics are a few years old. My son is now taller than me.:(

Some nice snub nosed dart mate they certainly fight hard in the surf.
I used indo pacific permit as it is the recognised common name. In the states permit are a sought after sportfish. You must be in SEQ too great place to live plenty of different fish to catch year round.

Some pics from a great evening topwater session on our local dam on the weekend.
Matt and Allen both caught a nice Leichardti each and some Australian Bass I only caught Bass  no pics of the Bass they were only little guys about 12 inches.
