here's a medium sized one.. I took this pic from www.astfoundation.org

a buddy of mine has two in a 150 gallon tub.. they're about 5 years old now, probably a good 14 inches nose to tail... they're ravenous. He's got photos of a massive AST... the guy holding it is about 300lbs, 6'8" and he could easily fit his head in the snapper's mouth.. it's claws are bigger than his fingers, he's holding it up so the head is around shoulder level and the tail is down past his knees.. from what I've heard they can get upwards to 200+lbs..

my buddy is building a 500 gallon pond in his basement for them.. ...still not big enough. They're only 14 inches or so now and ready to eat live chickens.

p.s. ....doesn't that dude have the sweetest mullet ever?

awww look at the cute baby snapper :naughty:

you can put it in a 30 gallon rubbermaid for years they grow really slow

Beware the snapper
A snapping turtle is a deadly aquatic force not to be reckoned with.... introduction of a snapper to your Aquarium is the equivalent of adding 1 Godzilla to 1 Tokyo..The snapper will quickly level your fishy metropolis to a stagnant lifeless rubble... the beasts Ravenous hunger is legendary.. The Unholy shellback will slaughter all who oppose it..Crushing your most powerful fish with its mighty jaws rendering it to a gasping fishhead drifting helplessly through the tank....until it too is consumed.. the tank will soon resemble a snow globe of drifting fishscales and carnage- all done with A brutal finesse and frightening speed. The unrelenting tyrant will dominate all... the killing spree continues until all living creatures in sight are reduced to shreds and digested in the great snappers belly.

One must bow to the overwhelming power that is the snapping turtle.

i applaud you sir (or ma'am)... that was beautiful. /bow

mine didnt. they out-grew a 40G in 5 months.

alligator snappers are a little less active then there common snapper relative, they usually only eat fish and crustaceans and other things that come ot there mouth, and they grow fairly slow

they live for years 100 at least maybe..there dinosaur
