Bacteria affecting new rays

I don't know what binox has in it but the good ole Dr. Ross freshwater stingrays book talks about using nitrofurazone. Now what products contain that I have no clue. I had a tank in question and just dumped 2 cups of bleach in it (of courese no fish in tank), ran it for 2 days whiping everything out and starting fresh. I had 2 rays die in this tank and will not take anymore chances.

These other products contain the same but also contian furazolidone which I'm not sure is ray safe. Anyone know?

when my tank went south and i wiped it out with bleach i put 5 gallons in and turned 8 heaters to 98f LOL might have been a little too hardcore lol

Good Gosh, isn't that equivalent to a nuclear holocaust in the fish world

I do a do bleach 1 to 20 when sterilizing.

So just wondering if anyone else is still having problems? It's been a week with 4lbs of salt per 100 gallons and a temp of 90. It has seemed to slow down but is still there. We cannot get binox in Canada so the closest med I can use is furan-2 by api, has nyone used this before

Can you recieve packages of meds like Binox up there? Do you need someone down here to get it and send it to you? The stuff is really resonably priced here.....

I could maybe get someone to send it up here but seeing that the online fish stores won't do it I wouldn't ask anyone else too. I started treating with furan-2 so hopefully it works and doesn't kill my tank. I'll let everyone know my results. thanks db
