Ah, don't listen to the people here. I've noticed krzr3000 has a tendency to always nitpick at every single thing. And when it's pointed out to him/her you get shunned for doing so. Whatever.
Some people are overly idealistic and have huge sticks up their naughty places (*cough cough krzr3000! cough*). Yes, we all love animals, but although we can afford initial cost and ongoing housing cost, we can't all afford $100 antibiotics. And since this is the second time the lizard gets sick, who's to say it won't be a lifelong recurring sort of thing?
I think you did the right thing. When you buy an animal you're trusting that the vendor is selling you something healthy and in good condition. It's the same reason why people won't buy arowanas with damaged barbels or iguanas with missing tails or flowerhorns with no nuchal bumps. If the vendor sells you something sick, it's not your responsibility.
Wouldn't you exchange a malfunctioning TV?
And the baby beardie looks uber cute, by the way!!! I always wanted one, but I can only imagine the electricity bill that a 110 degree Fahrenheit basking area produces.
people dont have anything up there naughty places. we are just voiceing are opinions
if you cant afford the care dont get the new herp

seems fairly simple to me. and he purchased the WD WITH the puffy eye. that right there has IMPULSE but written all over it.
and the electric wont go up to much. it doesnt take alot to get temps that high.

well u obviously do have something against me if u and countless others on this forum always shun me
even when doing things as simple as giving advice or posting pictures
i dont agree with what you do. first you buy a beardy and hes the greatest thing in the world. then you see the water dragon you buy that then the beardy gets sold. then the water dragon has a puffy eye and you give it back to the shop and buy another bearded dragon?
anyone else see the pattern or am i imagining things?

how am what I did anything different that what varanio does when he has no room for his crested geckos?
(just as an example)
i dont think ive done anything to deserve this kind of treatment
im being treated like trash...
he is moving males from breeding projects. he just not getting rid of them because he doesnt want them anymore. when you are breeding its different. i dont think you should of called V. out like that
you are being treated like you are acting. you buy an animal and you care for it until it passes on.

ahhh..ignorance.
a malfunctioning TV is not a living breathing thing that depends on it's caregiver to keep it alive and healthy, that was one of the worst things i have ever read on this entire forum..wow.
when you buy a new pet, that new pet becomes your responsability..regardless of what you paid for it. does a $5 anole not deserve to live..just because you paid 5 bucks for it? come on now. these reptiles cannot feed themselves in our care, they can not clean up after themselves, they can not go out and get themselves meds when they are sick, thats what we as owners do for them..well..some of us it seems.
dzb, good luck with your new beardie, i do not agree at all with what you did..but its done. now hopefully your beardie doesn't get sick..
i also wanted to ask, what kind of UVB light were you using for the WD?
i agree. maybe i should of tossed my iguana in the trash when he got sick. if i had known that i could of saved myself a TON of money in vet bills

. you people never tell me anything!

Its relevant, this being the second time. Before you based it on "every post i see..." even though i have been posting here almost 3 years. I doubt in those 2 months you can make judgment. Go call out someone else...
You are barking up the wrong tree, and aren't getting far. Example, an iguana cost $15...to house, feed, heat, light, vetcare it for its lifetime its going to cost you thousands. If you think thats not how it is then go back to the fish sections where you can easily dump it at a local shop. Or maybe flush it down the toilet? Since its not worth it right?
I'm done with this argument, just makes no sense.
agreed.

wtf??
id never pay 100 bucks for an anole
that make me a bad person?
the reptile section has the most ignorant people
never have i been flamed more than in this section for anything
u guys must be perfect people the way u say things sometimes
u guys act as if i ruin ur reputation
u guys dont even no me like that
i like seeing updates and pics in the reptile section
i thought id be nice to share what i got and how everything was doing
but then u guys slap me in the face when i do so
well i would never pay a 100 bux for an anole either...
but....
thats because i would never own one.
but if you buy it and it gets sick its YOUR responsibility to care for it. even if someone GIVES you a dog, or you pickup a stray cat. just because they were free doesnt mean that deserve sub-par care. maybe adopted babies deserve more care because they cost more

thats the way you are making it sound.
i wouldnt say we are more ignorant. maybe just more mature? or maybe we care about our herps? great thoughts huh?
as far as ruining our rep. dont worry its not just you but all the other younger people who go out and buy the throw away pets
have fun with the beardie, and i hope the herp store doesnt fill his old tank with anything yet
and lastly you dont like the advice you get from alot of us than what are you going to do one day when we dont post to help you anymore? you get alot of great advice but you would rather focus on what we say that getts you a little pissed off. learn to block it out and go right for the advice. this is called constructive criticism. get used to it you are going to have to deal with it your WHOLE life. everyone that you have issues with has gone to great lengths to help you out.
Have a nice day
