Battle scars from the night

You said your pair was accidental. But, why would you purchase two of the same species, you do know by doing that you run a chance of having a pair?

When dealing with cichlids in a large community I never buy the same two types, for that reason. Personally, I would try to find the Red Oscar a nice home, IMHO more than likely it is the male Bahia beating down your Red Oscar. Clown Knives are usually only aggressive with their own kind.

I can't help but wonder if the op posted this thread just to get attention and start an argument...

If that isn't the case, the conclusion I've come to is - some people really are that dumb.

I bought them as an F1 mated pair. Just didnt think they would spawn in the pond or that wasnt the ideal setting for them to spawn anyway. Its not just that red oscar its both red oscars, one of my azuls and a red belly pacu that all have marks on them but both bahias do as well. Oddly enough the smallest fish in the pond, a 7" yellow acara has no damage at all. They are either super aggressive or smart enough to stay away from the one doing the damage.

I didnt post to start an argument i posted to show the damage being done. Like i said its not just him taking a beating. There are 4 fish that get it like that. I would imagine if i didnt have as many fish in the pond as i do there would be some fatalities.

As far as the second sentence i have no idea the meaning behind it, but i have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this thread.

looks like a nice setup, i use the pool as well, how's it working for you? I like the pvc idea, never thought about that. I had a bunch of lily pads in my pool but the plecos dug all the dirt out of the pots so i scrapped that idea.

Thanks I like it alot, I got my pvc from scrap from a water main project one is 16" the other big one is 18". I would also suggest you have a patch kit on hand just in case.

Yes sir i bought a patch kit and have already used it twice. I am of the belief the large plecos are the ones behind the 2 holes i have patched over the last few months. They are 13"+ common plecos, also the culprits behind digging the dirt out of the flower pots, what a joy to watch though. Almost like play time 3 of the 4 were digging in pots and socializing with each other. Thing is it would turn the water almost totally black for part of the day but i have some pretty good filtration that cleared it up in around 12 hours. The fish are all starting to heal up as well, all aggression has subsided for now it would appear. I will be going around to look for some pvc for my setup tomorrow.
