Beamswork LED's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got mine in today, they look nice. They're a little dimmer than I'd like (though the old full hood I have on the 55 is covered in hard water stains, so that's probably why it's so dim), but they are definitely "whiter" than my florescent bulb (standard fixture). I'll take a snapshot tomorrow, I think once I set up the 75 with the glass tops (buying new glass tops just because) that the lights should be a bit brighter. Overall I'm satisfied thus far. :)

I felt that they were dim too at first. You get used to it. It's not as "BAMF!" as fluorescent lights are lol. It doesn't provide the bright, even coverage you're used to. To be totally honest, I prefer the warmer fluorescent lighting on some colors of fish... however the LEDS are way cheaper to run and last longer (Hopefully).

Found the next led fixture I'm gonna use. For those who bought or heard about the cf400 filter buyout on amazon should know the company has led lights aswell. Truaqua.com has fixtures with over 300 led's and they come with dimmers. I bought the beamworks 36 inch and truaqua fixtures come with over 200 more led's for about $40 more

Update on my beamworks fixture. 3 led's np longer work and 3 are barely lit. Looked at the tank and thought it looked a lil dimmer so I checked it out and saw the bad lights. Gonna run it till it probly stops working which probly won't be long since I've only had the light for 2 months.

Still very happy with mine, all the LEDs are still working great. I did pop the little lenses off which stopped the beaming effect and expanded the light coverage. FYI they are the Beamworks brand, reef bright.

Running mine for about 4 to 5 months now and so far all the leds are working. I run mine on a timer comes on at 5am shuts off at 8, then comes on again at 5ish pm and shuts off at 11:30p, so about 9 to 10 hours on a day.
