Beamswork LED's

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im curious as well. Anyone have the V2?

IDK if it's the V2 or V3 now. Whatever the new 72" version is. All I know is it's not the same as the V1.

And it seems odd on the pricing on the 72"er. They're like $180. I won't be buying one for that much. I can buy a couple of the 36" versions for WAY cheaper. Why are they charging so much for the 72" version? The old 48" V1 was such a hit because it was only like $70 shipped.

has anyone use the new double bright version of the beamswork, I suppose it is like the marineland 2x bright. just wondering, I have always heaed the power box gets SUPER hot.

To be honest, mine are too bright. I have 2 36" single brights on my 125 and I plan on putting them upside down for indirect lighting inside the canopy when I re-scape it in the coming weeks.

Thought it would be a good time for a follow up on my lights (36" freshwater bright). I purchased mine in October of 2012 and so far I have had no burned out LED's or any issues that way, so very happy with the longevity of the product. I still see an issue with both lights not being 100% the same color/output (post#151 & 153) on my 210g. It is weird but on one side of the tank I get a strange fast green algae build up on the plastic plants and even on the gravel. There is almost a line of demarcation so to speak on the gravel where it will grow and then stop where the other fixture begins. This is strange stuff! I have had no one notice the color difference and probably could not see it in a picture, so they are really close enough that it is not an eyesore but enough that like I said you get the weird algae on just the one side. This tells me that at some point a different LED was used in production. (Ive had the tank set up for years and it has never got any algae issues like this until the new lighting)

I also have a unit on my 56g column (24" freshwater bright/post #158 picture) that is like the 'good' side of my 210g. It has not shown algae growth or any issues. Very happy with that one!

I replaced dual T5 HO fixtures on the 210g, and know I am saving a ton of money in energy and overall am very happy with the longevity of the product but do question the consistency and quality control. Overall I still think these are a great budget light that are worth the low price they ask.

Thanks for the uodate DMD. As far as I know you are the only one to have that problem with the 2 different lights. However this does show QC issues. Other than that seems very good quality.

Has or is anyone using the reef brights on there FW tanks, curious as to the added blue hue from the extra blue LEDs? If I don't go that route I was thinking of getting 2 of these for my 180.. Any thoughts on these & even better any pics of someone that is actually using these.

If you look through the pics in this thread you will see a few FW tanks with reef Bright light (beamswork)
