I was about to order $30 worth of ceramic rings to add to my canister filters when I remembered some people have used plastic pot scrubbers for their bio-media.

Are these as effective?

Is there any comparison out there showing surface area of different types of bio-media?

Thanks for the pic Oddball!
Time to hit up the dollar store and see if they have nylon pot scrubbers. :nilly:

Aussienative - I was wondering the same thing.

That's the link thay won't correct the pricing on the scrubbies...$48/cf

Expensive !

It is supposed to be pre-seeded with bacteria & extract of barley...

Shotgun shell wadding + bottle bacteria + barley extract = savings

Scubbies + bottle bacteria = more surface area/savings and you don't incure the rath of the MFK gods. :D

I ordered 4 liters of Seachem Matrix instead.
Pot scrubbers just seemed to ghetto for some reason...
