Was checkin out the gar section...man one of those would be sweet! But would be a completely different direction than what I was initially thinking.

No one thinks my polypterus would survive in there with a RD / midas / somethin else?

a full grown rd/midas would tear it apart. at least mine would. it doesn't get along with anything. unless i find her a bigger male, she's 13 inches so it's gonna be hard lol.

Yea, that's the only thing thats buggin me. I really like my poly, and it would suck not bein able to have him in there at the same time. I figure any real glassbanger would get at him once they were fully grown. Anyone ever try this setup? lol

I mentioned this in another RD thread.

BTW:
My RD dislocated his jaw on my glass top trying to attack his own reflection! :WHOA:

I'm so glad it heal 100% :headbang2cause it was crooked for a few weeks.
Feeding him pre-soaked pellets is a real smelly job.
Glass basher FTW... :headbang2:D

RD/Midas

Put my fish up on all the cichlid forums in my area and craigslist...have plenty of ppl offering on the africans I've had in a 20long for a year but not the mbuna. There's a cichlid auction coming up next weekend I was invited to sell them in, i dunno if they'll make the money I spent on them, despite being awesome strains, but if I want to liquidate my fish quick, that'd be the way.

Went to the LFS in my area yesterday, found some red devils about quarter size, didn't pick one up though :/ there's another fish store that is higher quality that I didn't go to so I plan on goin there. Haven't had problems with them yet, and they said they had red devils, just wasn't in their area. Deciding now between a red devil and a midas, unless I just get a RDxMidas and get the best of both? Not sure if it works like that hahaha.

For this size and up tank, I always recommend a buttikoferi. It won't be able to live with your poly though. They usually descale any fish in the tank with it. I don't know if anything that would be aggressive enough for what you are describing that would leave it alone.

I've seen that video and that is one exception not the rule. FYI, young Festae typically behave like that without an audience.
With the many large Festae owners that exists, and hundreds of video on youtube, find another. I dare you!
For that 1 video there are thousands of Midas/Red Devils ones. I am the biggest Festae fan but I know what they are not.
You'll also notice that the owner never puts his hand to the tank. Only points his finger towards it from a distance. The fish is probably more angry at his reflection than the hand. When he goes to the side of the tank the fish acts differently.

Now this is Glassbanging!!!!

So what we have is you posting a video of very rare behavior to try to prove a point.

The question now remains. Of the 2 videos, who would bite for real?
