.......buterfly fish

ok ok...butterfly fish aren't exactly big scary fish.... but they look cool and beautifull and there will also be rope fish in the tank.

I was seriously thinking about a snakehead, but I like rope fish more and snakeheads eat everything so you can't put an other species of fish in the tank with them.

And I don't think I can get a tiger fish here (Holland).. I've never ever seen one in shops.

It will resemble a azian slow moving stream.

It will take some time to make the tank and make a fake river bank with lots of wood
If you don't mind saying so, how are you planning to replicate this asian slow moving river stream?? Details?? The idea sounds mystifying, pleasant, and sererne. A beautiful display i'm sure it will be... Please be sure to keep us posted, and GL!

Hi PhullTank57,

I've altered my plan a little bit. It will be more like a march...so even less current.
The very end of a river/side branch of a river or a isolated little lake.
The plan is to replicate a bank that's been hollowed out in some places with lot's of overhanging tree roots, wood and rocks. And a sandy bottom.
Most of the vegetation will consist of big groups of crypto's, lots of moss and javaferns. Some spots will be very dark and have no plants and others will have more light for the fast growing species that need more light.

Are you actually going to build a bank side? If so how? I've seen a couple that looked good that were done with concrete and plastic mesh but they were in outside displays.

Wow! Very nice... sounds like you have everything layed out... Can't wait to see it!

I built me self a 2000 gallon tank, 8ft x 8ft x 4ft tall 4x4 frame, and a window on one side that was casted 1 inch thick acrylic

I don't know the english word for it but a kind of foam will be used and mesh, epoxy-resin sprinkeled with sand make it look like soil and off course wood will be integrated.

Me to :D

I would love to do something like that. I've seen an artical in a UK magazine doing the same thing with a chinese river bank, on a smaller scale though.

You could get away with some dwarf Snakeheads, C. bleheri or something like that, only 4-6". The Barbs would be to big for them to swallow. They are from that Biotype as well.

I think i've realized I’m a snakehead obsessive. :screwy:
