Black Diamond Sand Blasting Sand

I picked up 3 bags with those shards in them as well. The ones you can easily see might not be that sharp, but after 5 or 6 times of getting very fine slivers of that stuff in my fingers, I pulled it out of my tanks.

Really? I have done a LOT of running my hands through it - when I rinsed it in buckets I spent about an hour with my hands in it, stirring it up, and did not get any slivers from it.

Don't be so dramatic...

Really because some users have experienced this....?

If you find the right stuff that is tested and documented, then I can see it, but trying new stuff out may risk your fish.... It's bad *** substrate, just make sure its safe, that's all. Don't have to be rude about it, I surely wasn't.....

No users have experienced "instant death" from this sand. I was not being rude, I was saying there's no need to be so dramatic about it.

Here is a pic from when i was cleaning some fine black diamond before putting it in my 55. You could see some brown clear pieces but no tubes. Had my hand in the bucket for hours cleaning no cuts. My corys were sifting threw it with in 5 mins of being put in the tank and still douploadfromtaptalk1349342381088.jpg

Some of you must have fragile little girly hands if it's causing cuts. And I thought I had pretty soft skin. :grinno:

There seams to be a bit of variation between what people are getting in their bags. If you end up with those shards, I wouldn't risk using it. Them may not be sharp, but would be more likely to get stuck in a fishes mouth or intestinal track if they swallowed it. As far as the grains themselves being "sharp", I doubt those will cause any issues.

I don't think anyone was actually cut by the black diamond sand, I just got slivers.

Just bought black diamond 20/40 and I see nothing that looks like glass at all. I cleaned half a bag in about 10 mins
