Blood parrot controversy

Oops, sorry if you have some Lee....didn't mean to offend.

I do ..and I am not offended...everybody needs to have their own view .. I don't disagree , they are ugly...but cool little dudes..with nice personality:)

I was part of the other thread you mention, so I may be repeating myself; but Blood Parrots have excellent personalities, get a large size, and have excellent colours.

I also havent seen a really deformed blood parrot mouth in a while, which would lead me to believe that they're perhaps becoming "more normal". Personally I'm glad when I watch my tank that I can have a fish which gets large, has cichlid intelligence; and can actually exist in a community without killing everything.

If you're buying a fish based on its ability to rip something to shreds with its teeth e.g. dovii, then fair enough you won't be into blood parrots.

Yeah sorry about that I decided I'd make a new thread to get the full spectrum. I loved your advice. Speaking of the off chance of getting one with an extra deformed mouth, is there any way I can look at one in the pet store and tell if it's mouth is more or less deformed?

Keep what you like, like what you keep. I'm not a hybrid keeper and don't even like most domestic strains of some of the more popular fish. However this hobby is all about diverisity. Like them or not the BRP is here to stay so if you like them get them, it's your money, your fish, your house and my .02.

You'll be able to tell by looking, trust me. Even still, they just suck the food up and chew it in their throat like goldfish, my two are quick off the mark in my community tank to get a share of the food, no problems.

Here's one of my BRP's.

Had this guy for about 7 years now. My favorite BRP male. To me, this is one of the BRP's out of the four I have that has a more developed-looking body, has a almost regular looking mouth, and has more of the red devil cichlid looks.

They do indeed have quite a bit of personality.. always coming up to me dancing, looking at me, and they not very skittish at all once they get to know you.
