Yes, I do use RO/DI (I assume you're talking about reverse osmosis/de-ion right?) I have about 500 gallons and I change 60 gallons a week on average. You could try to use live ghost shrimp for the time being to fatten her up. I'm actually a little concerned about my male. He eats, but he's not as excited about food as I'd like him to be. I'm going to start soaking his food in garlic tomorrow to see if that encourages him to eat. You could try that as well, because I'm sure force feeding is a pain in the rear.
My food has garlic in it allready. Live ghost shrimp wouldnt have a chance with all the other rays getting to her so I will keep feeding her through the tube for a while and see what happens.

Do you have some sort of screen or something you can use to cordin-off(spelling?)a section to test for live food? Just with her and live food, nothing else in that section. My spelling suxx on words i never use :(

i did buy that lighting egg crate but i think she is getting more nutrition with force feeding or do you think it to stressfull? the guy i bought them from swears he has had them fot 2 years and that they were eating fine?

Force feeding is probably more nutritious if the food is staying down. I've never done it though so don't know about stress. I was just trying to think of things that would make it easier for you. Force feeding freaks me out; I'd be too nervous. Sounds like you know what you're doing though.

I'm not nervous at all, I did it once before on another ray that got stuck in my return so now i think i know what i am doing there. She is keeping it down as i keep a close look for 15 0r 20 minutes afterwards. I think this is the way to go for now at least. I just got home and she was swimming around which is more than the other one was doing. Have you guys heard that rays when they dont eat, live off the fat of the base of their tails?

Never heard of that. Although when they're skinny you can really notice it in that area. On a side note, my new guys been eating like a champ today. He's taken everything I've offered. Hopefully it's a good sign and he'll start to fatten up.

I will take a pic and maybe you can see if she looks a little better, I think so.

Hey thats good news about you're ray!:D

I think mines actually in worse shape. It's hard to tell from pictures though. If you're able to force feed her though and she keeps it down, I don't see any reason she wouldn't gain weight. Hopefully she starts to feel good enough to feed on her own soon, I'm sure force feeding gets old. I just hope mine starts to hand feed soon. I'm sick of using grabbers to feed her and getting water everywhere.
