Breeding pair for a 125g

I would steer clear of a Jag pair, at least if your gonna make this tank your permanent home. Males have the capability of reaching 16+" and an 18" wide tank leaves not too too much room to be comfortable... It will work, but I would rather a larger fish have that little extra moving room if you catch my drift. Texas cichlids would be cool (cyano cuz they would fill the tank a bit more than Carpinte), but Escondidos are a very attractive fish and would fit nicely in that tank.

For a jag to reach 16" is extremely rare, and I think a breeding pair wouldnt be too bad in that tank. But a pair of cubans would definatley be an unreal choice, little less common too IMO.

Jumbo was close, GREENTERRAS jag is over 16 by now I'm assuming... If kept in good water and fed properly reaching 16" should be attainable, and if you plan on keeping a jag for life (possibly 10+ years if cared for properly) this should be. Even so, if a Jag say reaches 14.5" that leaves only 3.5" to spin around, which is 1.75" on each side.... IMO not very much space, adequate, but not the kind of space I like to give.. Thats just me though and everyone has their own ways.

personally I would do a group of needle fish. I have found them to breed fairly easy. It is just feeding the fry that I have problems with....btw I have a breeding pair...just letting you know lol

I got lucky and found my large cuban at a lfs for $20, Other than that, I've never seen them for sale as adults before

My jag is probably close to 15", right Ryan? I would gladly put him in a 75 by itself. Not many Jags actually attain a huge size. I agree that a pair would be fine in a 125.

I like the Cuban idea though
