Black nasties

Parachromis ( except dovii )

Trimac

Other large Amphilophus most are Colorful interactive and aggressive

These would be my first choices for breeding pairs

Black nasties= Haitiensis?

^ yep

Just be sure to get a tank divider if you breed Haitiensis

Fish size depends more on genetics that anything else, and in aquaria Male jags really rarely pass 14-15". Jumbo was around 14", and Greenterra's is the only jag passed 16" (slightly) that i've ever seen with on ruler pictures. The rest is all talk. bigger is a better but 18" wide is fine.

I never said It wasnt enough and I never said that they do always grow that big... I said they have the capability to grow to such sizes and no one here on the forum can disagree with that.

I wonder why they dont reach these large sizes in aquaria, any ideas?

small confined space and the abundance of chemicals which would not be seen in the creatures natural habitat.

Now that depends on the area, pollution being as rampant as it is, not many places are "prestine" anymore.

Dovii...

Jaguars...

Cubans would be tight...

Red Devil/Midas...

or the Festae idea would be a good one also...

It's not just pollution. Our tanks have much higher nitrate readings than in nature, which will stunt growth. How many overstocked monster tanks keep zero nitrates all the time like one would see in a stream or river in nature?

This is what I was trying to get at :)
