I think if I was going to remove the brace between the 2 glass panels on the corner, I would go with a little thicker glass. You dont want the glass to bow and break the seal.

Im actually waiting for a price in a piece of acrylic with a 90 degree bend in it for that corner piece ;-)

looking good mate. i definitely like the sound of removing the corner post, glass or acrylic, either way its gonna look better and make the tank feel a lot bigger visually IMO. keep it up

Well the fabrication on the tank is pretty much done. I cant seem to post any pics. My internet explored just hangs everytime I try and post. Ill put up some pics from my home pc tonight.
