Building a 9'x25' pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice upper pond but i does need some taller plants in it

I agree! I added the rocks and some wisteria from my planted tank after dark last night, so I got up early to take the pics and see how it turned out. I have some woods ponds scouted out for plants once I have time to venture out. Not going to go too crazy with them this late in the year though. As far as koi I will probably add 1 or 2 butterfly, but not much more. Probably won't pick those out until spring.

My buddy has a common pleco that is probably 14" that he wants to put in. From my understanding they want 70deg+, but can survive 50deg water. In southern Va we dip some nights below freezing in winter, so no to the pleco, right?

You have a tank inside? :naughty: bring it inside in the winter (not exactly like the VA winter is all THAT long ;) )

Had to go back into work this week, so not too much new. I did start experimenting with a spillway for the trickle tower and worked some more on the upper pond. Added 2 more comets also.

Yeah, I may do that. Kate is not a fan of their suckermouth so I have never kept them, but I may put him in my classroom. I have a 55gal there that I filled and started cycling this week. I may pick a few nice juvenile Koi to raise in there over the winter.

New pastime is using a projector out by the pond to watch movies in the evenings.
