I think maybe instead of using our fist, we should grab each other by the lips in a lip lock and thrash around

Hasn't that already been implemented ;)

I think if you want to get into the nature part of it you cant get much farther than males solve problems with violence*. Those who cant control their tempers resort to that for petty reasons.
*As in killing the evening meal, establishing dominance in a pack/pride/herd, or defending the young

That is very true, and its a great example because in comparison to the violence of fighting off a male or a predator, the beating up of the female is quite mild.

Haha! So close to being sig. :grinno:

No, domestic violence has nothing to do with instincts. It is an act of frustration when you cant explain you´re failure to communicate with words. Also it can be a way to show power, but that is also because of communication problems. I think that you can´t compare humans and fish, even if it is the instincts you are focusing. We are far more advanced than a fish and to even bring up a discussion like this is like pouring water on the mill for those who says that men are superior women.

Haha awesome thread.
have to agree with one thing, yes as in your situation some people really need to be put in place sometimes and cant always learn from there own mistakes if the mistakes are to bad. But i think that is one of the reasons we can talk and communicate so good compeering to the rest of the nature. But I guess as males have a lot of aggresivity and testosteron in us that comes from genes that we earlier got rid of and now we doesn't, not in the same way.

Perfect time to quote peter in family guy:

"Peter have you ever struck your wife?
Only in front of the kids to assert my status as dominant male of the pride."

That's what happens if you watch to much discovery channel. (Or cichlids:naughty:)

I don't think you can compare fish and humans in this way. Fish are much less complex.

If you look at more complex creatures like pairing birds and mammals, you see less violence towards their mates.

So put simply she had a lot of partners and you can't handle that. You then flew off the handle over it stormed off in a **** area. When she followed you to continue the argument you physically force her into the car?

Had I been observing this calling the cops would have been just a start. Given that I have no idea what's going on.

You escalated a situation then used physical force to solve it. I'll stop here to prevent getting poped by the mods.

What can we learn from animals, depends on the animal. Many males are polygamous, they kill or chase off all other males. Violence is always a solution but usually best used last and with the absolute intent of killing the opponent as fast as possible. Not all that applicable in domestic situations.

So your woman had LOTS of exes, big deal, she's with you now. I'm sure you're a good person so stop being so insecure in your manhood. And like I said before, comparing cichlids to humans is :screwy:.

Wow! A contoversial thread if I ever heard one. At least if I'm understanding the OP correctly it is. So Oscarum monstruoso if you don't mind please clarify your original statement. Are you saying domestic violence is a remnant of a evolutionary instinct based on survival comparable to Cichlid behavior during courtship? Are you trying to find a excuse for domestic violence? That's how it sounds to me. Though as I stated maybe your statement isn't clear enough to me and I'm interperting you incorrectly.
