I've spent over 100 hours trying to catch a single fish. I've fished at the following places:
San pablo reservoir
Lafayette reservoir
Lake Chabot
Lake Del Valle
Ugghh that's all I can think of ATM

Ive tried so many things. I MUST be doing something wrong. No bites, no fish, not even a weed or an old boot. I don't know anything about fishing but I am EXCLUSIVELY Interested in catching catfish. Idc about any others. Just catfish. Just want a catfish. Gotta get me a catfish.

Yea you can catch them in the day but at night is best - chicken liver works well - also hot dogs cut into maybe 2-3 inch pieces or I have a friend who swears on dead minnows head cut off btu hot dogs have been best for me - they are attracted to smelly bait

If you're trying specifically for cats, try night fishing. They are active then. And try using shrimp or chicken liver for bait.

Chicken livers always fall straight off my single hooks. And the fish just nip it off and swim away. Can't do it at night. Daytime only. Earliest is 9am. Latest ~5-6pm.

I think I tried them hot dogs just once. But I can try again. I do the minnows almost every time. Nothing. Although never heard of cutting heads off. Don't got the guts to do that. Can I do it without?

That's your biggest problem - the best fishing, in general, is early and late.

Put the chicken livers in panty hose "bags". Just cut sections and tie it off. Or y ou could also prebait by poking holes in a jar lid full put some liver in the jar and sink it where your fishing, do this a few times before actually fishing and with any luck you'll have lots o f cats coming back for supper when you do fish.
Good luck!

Live minnows are not ideal for catfish - I have caught them before like this but since they scavenge on the bottom alot moving targets are not ideal - the hot dogs work fairly well if you cant get the liver to stay (waterboy12 that is a sweet idea im def trying that) you can try chicken gizzards they stay on well and attract them for the same reasons more or less as liver (cheap too)

Yeah you catch catfish at night.
