Cedar Rapids flood pics [EXTREME LOAD WARNING]

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh wow, that looks bad!!!

what a shame....

Thanks for the contribution nOzqh. If any other CR, or any flooded area, residents have more pics, please feel free to add.

I would like to add, that in most of the pictures in this thread, the water had not crested. In nOzqh's pics, the hand rail that sticks out of the water was completely submerged by the time the Cedar River crested.

I used to live on 4th St SW in the 600 block. I lost everything due to the flood.
The water didn't get in to my tanks, but I gave my 6inch Jag to the playhouse, along with several convicts and a couple of plecos. I now have just 1 tank set up in my mothers garage waiting to get in to a new apartment. My 10" jag, 4-1 inch convicts and 2 - 3" bushynosed plecos are now all I have after the flood. They all survived 12 days with no power and food. Thank GOD because it would have crushed me to loose my Jaguar..... Couldn't give a damn about anything else, my Jag.... Love that fish like a child.

This is so unreal.... especially the homes.... i know none of us can even amagine that happening to our house....just unbelievable... what is going to happen to all these homes...can they be saved eventually.... or are they considered too far gone... i would never rebuild there...once would be once too much for me..

2000 out of 3000 effected homes are estimated to be destroyed when all is said and done. The city doesn't even know where to start. Hundreds of businesses are effected, some may never re-open, including some of the industries that provided hundreds of jobs in the area. It's all very saddening.

Most, not all, but most of the homes in these affected areas are much older and not in the greatest condition to begin with. Add to that 6 to 15 feet of water flowing at a 15 knot current, and you're left with some severely damaged buildings. Think about it. If it can take a rail bridge, fully loaded with cars that are fully loaded with stone, and sweep it away, what do you think it did to these buildings and their foundations?

looting , fishing , and diving for safes lol....... J/K hope that mess gets cleaned up befor the cows start floating around!
