wow that is terrible, I hope everything goe's well for you guys. It's a shame that everyone lost so much - but glad to hear that everyone is ok.

Things are improving, slowly, but we're getting there!

Just wanted to give you guys a reference to what happened here.

This is what the river by the courthouse normally looks like:

This town looks so beautiful.... i hope in time it looks that way again..

I think I heard this morning on the news the walls at the Roosevelt were being blamed on the straight line winds the other night. I say BU** SH*T. If that were the case them walls should have come down a few months ago. I think it is structure damage of some sort. We have had some super strong winds here in the last 8 months.
Tomorrow I go to work at Quaker Oats doing clean up. My job at the Cedar Rapids Community Schools, has come to an end, and tomorrow we shift to Quaker. I'll probably be there for several months and thats ok with me because the money is a whole lot better then my regular job.

Cleanup will be going on for YEARS. You'll have no shortage of work.

My parents live on the Mississippi, and in '93 the town where they live now was flooded. It's a really small town of about 75 people, and it took over 2 years to get that place back to normal. Cedar Rapids has WAAAAAAAY more cleanup to do than Niota, Illinois did. Sure, there are more people to work on the cleanup, but it's also a much more complicated process here.
