yes 4 people should do it.
If it's acrylic, like my Tenecor 360, two men can carry it for short distances. Getting through a narrow doorway may require tilting the 3-foot-wide tank on its side, which is only two feet wide.

It is glass I think. What type of filteration would you reccomend for it? It will hopefully be 8frx 2ft x 3ft so will take a big filter.

A glass tank will be roughly twice the weight of acrylic. Is your floor concrete slab? If not, it will need to be reinforced to support the weight regardless of whether you ultimately go with glass or acrylic.

On my 360 gallon, I'm using two Amiracle MR-400 wet/drys, each modified with its own 1,400 gph CSR Continuous Siphon Overflow and Mag-18 return pump. Between the two systems, total sump volume is 60 gallons and total biological media volume is around 20 gallons. I'd estimate flow at around 1,000 to 1,200 gph per return pump, accounting for the hose diameter and PVC elbows. Thus, I'm probably getting 2,000 to 2,400 gph between the two systems. Depending on the configuration of your stand, you can go even larger on the sump(s), but make sure there is enough room underneath to make modifications should the need arise.

Glass is heavy. I'm bummed because a 500g tank wit a cracked bottom was supposed to be delivered oday. They broke a back panel trying to get it up from basement fish room. Thats right, a free 500+G TANK APPROX. 3'X3'X8', WITH STAND and stand platform. They broke it bad enough to twist frame because they tried to move it with just 3 people. This was an old, "classic" stainless frame glass tank. Glass is heavy. Waah! boo hoo, at least it was free and I didn't do it.

A tank stand platform i just a 4'x8' sheet of 1 1/2" marine grade ply with tile coating, it helps spread the footprint, you still need floor reinforcement. In new built homes with concrete slab floors I would still advise using one.

upstairs? house jacks and 4"x 8"s , alot f them or it will eventually end up on the 1rst floor. I had a freinnd have a 350g tank fall over after around 3 years, it pulled the floor joint loose. someone had a thread that showed a decent reinforcement recently, 1 floor up? invest in 4"x 8" full width cross joists and housejack, a200g tank weighs a ton not conting stand, also use a tank platform, they are worth the extra $100

I think the floor is reinforsed but I am not sure. I am changing the room so when I take everything out I will have a look under the floorboards. The tank will hopefully be 285G. Any idea how much a 285G costs in arylic or glass?

I just found out that the house was made with reinforsed floors so I should be okey :D. I have emailed mera aquarium about the tank but 36" wide on ebay as the question through ebay did not work but I have been on their site and will phone them if nothing happens.

Unfortunally Mera aquatics does not make tanks 36" wide by 8ft long by 2ft high as their glass is not thick enough so I have asked what their biggest width on that tank would be and if I went down to 7ft could I get 3ft width. Think I did the right thing?
