I've built an above ground pond with cinder blocks, wood, and a pond liner. The pond liner being the most expensive part. Really depends on how ghetto you want to get. I also built a filter for it out of a plastic plant pot and the most expensive part was the water pump. All in all I was able to build a roughly 375g pond for $300

Cheap and Ghetto are my favorite requirements lol this is my cheap and ghetto gar tank everything in this tank cost me 180. The tank measures 94"x59"x23” and cost me under 70. it doesn't look great but it works amazing. 
Maybe he wants the gar to be ripped
trust me that fish is way stronger then I ever want it to be. he's broken not one but two 1/4" thick glass. (I was using the front panel of a 55 as the lid to his old tank)
