From what I studied in college bio proteins are proteins. there are hormones that respond differently to different species tho. but different animals stomach have different digestive enzymes so yeah. but i am sure that all carno have peptidase to break down protein. however birds and fish are more related than fish to mammals so i am assuming that it should be okay because arrows are known to jump and eat birds right?

Fat deposits behind the eye's is what causes drop eye!!
It is a known fact...

Don't take that seriously cause I can care less:D.

edit... I wasn't refering to just arowana's but as fish in general.
You want to know my insight on that? lol I think it is more genetically. most fish have fat store on belly. under the eyes? iono if you eat alot of food do you get drop eye too? lmao

Lol like I said don't take it seriously cause really I do not care and I don't get into the sciences to figure out why it happens.
But maybe that's why some people get those bird eye's. You know the ones that look like they are sticking an inch out of their head.
Can we get on that topic instead?
Or can I stop typing?

Not necessarily. Mammalian meat and fish have two completely different structure and properties of protein. A fish digestive system is not made to digest mammalian meat. Theres so many other things such as fish fillets and pellets which you can use.

agreed, even my piranhas had a hard time digesting red meat. after that i never had the thought of feeding fish red meat. try some boiled carrots, or arowana gourmet.

Raw meat was a part of a human's diet in the past, heck even I used to eat raw beef. That doesn't mean our digestive system can handle it well...Just becuase a species is open to eating mammalian meat does not mean they are good or made for digesting it...

well i've had a jar for about 4 yrs now, n its has grown up beatifully n sometime i think it eats better than me lol..well its main diet is pellet, crickets, worms, n shrimps (fresh live n kicking) but there r time when i do feed it chicken hearts n steak when i'm preparing steaks i tend to slice off a piece or 2 n feed my jar. He seems to love his treats...i'm no fish expert but its how i treated my fish n so far it works for me. i hope this help u some n gl with your jar, n i hope u grow to love it as much as i do mine.

No problem in feeding that. Much better than feeding live feeders. Just vary the diet which ensures the fish gets all the nutrients it requires. You can even feed chicken guts if you like.
