Just got a few new additions today. Two wild caught 6” Temensis Orino hybrid bass and one 5.5” Temensis Azul hybrid. The Temezul is in emergency quarantine right now as it apparently did not handle the journey well and I’m hoping it pulls through. The Orimensis are already flourishing but are definitely showing the general fussiness of wild bass.
I’m going to continue to update this thread to give insight into the growth and patterns of these hybrids since it’s very hard to find anything on them. I will try to be detailed in the behavior seen as well since, personally, I feel each species does have different personality traits.
I’m especially interested in the Orimensis because I feel like the two species will really benefit from each other genes: the orinos powerful background color and more manageable aquarium size along with the Temensis’ unrivaled Spangling, body shape, and belly color. Or maybe it’ll be the exact opposite and turn into a giant brown bass with 3 spots ?
The azul should be interesting as well but not as different from what I’m imagining. Still, very beautiful and cichla azul is my favorite tied with Intermedia.
Here’s some pictures of the Orimensis currently. Definitely wary of me, so sorry for the bad quality. So far they seem to avoid one another and take turns schooling with the other bass. I can already tell getting them on pellets is going to be real fun. Temezul pics will come when I feel he can handle the event.
