Clown loaches...Is 4f diameter round plastic pond - 240G polyehtylene

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are you getting a lot of evaporation? What about humidity in the room?

Yes, there is evaporation but not something to worry about. I have the window in the room opened very slightly all the time and that controls the humidity sufficiently. One can get dehumidifier too.

Cory you should have used a pond filter. It would have been cheaper

I already had the filters as most fish came from a broken down tank..But yeah, I guess one can use a pond filter or any sort of filtration they fancy.

Thank you so much for the info, I am really excited to try this! I have found a couple options for the container, I am leaning towards this one but need to contact the manufacturer to confirm fish safe:

I love the live plants you have - I have tried some of them with my shoal in the past and they have torn them to bits, do you see any of that activity going on with yours?

We are building a home (August completion) and I have claimed what was "the office" for a fish room. We are having the builder reinforce the entire floor to accommodate the weight. What (if anything) have you done around the pond for aesthetics? I was thinking of trying to do some brick work.

The tank in the link sounds almost identical to mine....:) Mine is also rotationally molded, UV protected, impact resistant..etc..You need to drive a car against it to do damage :) That was how the seller expressed themselves :)

I haven't done anything for aesthetics because I had to set it up fast, but there are plenty of options...Brick work will do...It can be done really nice.

Yes, the clowns do pinch holes in the anubias and most soft plants one would try but they don't touch crypts or java fern for example. Crypts will grow really well in there. The clowns will obviously not touch the emersed plants either, and that's the most important part as they are absolute nitrogen sponges, plus really beautiful. I had mine in the previous tank and they flowered for me on many occasions.

I wanted to mention about the hydroton clay pebbles...They float initially, so when used in the baskets for the emersed plants I couldn't raise the water level above the surface of the baskets. But they eventually get saturated with water and will not float. at all. You can prevent that if you soak them in advance as it did take a couple of weeks for mine.

Some more pond pics and a couple of videos taken over the last week

I am not sure which ones you have in mind smjack. All the plants inside the water are underwater plants. There's basically just anubias and crypts and a couple of others. The ones with just their roots dipped are the ones on the pictures. They've been growing well but are significantly outcompeting my underwater plants for nutrients so the underwater plants are suffering right now...not enough stock to keep every plant going.
