i have never heard of using epsom salt... the only salt i use is aquarium salt.. Have you used epsom salt on your fish? I know it is used for humans.. ? Let me know.

I have used it many times to treat ich. Then I tried it for a longer period of time and it seemed to get rid of it for good. Do a search on this site and you should find more info on it.

At the risk of sounding callous, I would suggest you give up on clown loaches at least until you try something new. They arent an easy fish to keep and some of your fish keeping habbits obviously arent working with them. Ick or white spot is not only brought on by temperature changes but also by stress and/or poor water conditions.

Putting them into a different tank to see if you can keep them alive by themselves is a good suggestion however.

Never give up! Just don't kill too many and thereby raise the price I have to pay!

see thats what gets me, i do atleast a 20% water change weekly, if not more. i have one loach living, but cant get anymore, why does one live while others die? tank has been at the same temp from the get-go. and i did have 1 loach in a 30 long and he got ick along with my 7" that was in the 180 with my 5" loach. frustrating

So lucky!

Have you raised the temp to 85 and treat with salt? If not they will die a week after you get them. You need to kill the ich without new loaches in the tank.

Don't bother with the " I have one that is fine ", because it you have killed so many. Try it and you should be fine in 5 weeks. Remember to add salt everytime you do water changes.

The idea is to kill the ich when it doesn't have any weak fish to feed off of.

I'm going to say no here. The ich seems to be in your main tank. Once you move them from the 30 to the main, they will be stressed and lose their protective slime coat and likely get ich again.

So IMHO, you need to turn the temp up in the main tank slowly over the next week or 2. Then add Epsom salt once you have it high enough. This will help kill the ich and at the same time aid the fish's gill function. Do weekly water changes, adding the salt back every time. The more time that passes, the less ich you will have in the tank. I've heard that it can take up to 8 weeks to kill all of it. I did it for 5 or 6.

BTW, an empty tank will not have the good bacteria you need to remove ammonia and nitrite.

Mine dont die of what I do, mine commit suicide they are freakin mad
