Yup, by that time I'll hopefully have a steady income job (doubt that being an art major). My dad wants to start an freshy aquarium, so I can transfer them to that tank. Plus my gecko will most likely be gone by the time I have my degree. Might use his tank to keep an Arowana or two. I'm gonna take a trip to Petsmart or some other store to see what they can order.

what you need to do is get an apartment. if thats not an option then get a nice schooling fish. when i lived in the dorms i got a 1/2" oscar in a ten gallon and when i left i got him a bigger tank. now i live in an apartment where my land lord doesnt care about my fish tanks

I'll probably be living in an apartment next year. But for this year I want to start off with the 10 gallon to start off with.

Your gecko lives in a tank big enough for 2 arowanas!!!:eek::eek:

My suggestion for now is to get a small tank and go all out to make it look as nice as possible. By this I mean planted. Maybe 2 rams or neon tetras, or a betta

I'm leaning more in the direction of the 2 rams, and maybe some cories, or one of those little bull plecos.

Yeah, he's a big gecko. Madagascar Giant Day Gecko, about 12" long. We used to have 3 in there, but he killed the two females. He's very very territorial, so he needs a big tank. He's really pretty though, bright green with vibrant red spots. I've had him for nine years now. I'll probably post some picture of him soon.

sweet, how big is tank?

It's about a 100 gallon tank, maybe 150.

I'm most likely getting the rams. I really like the way they look, and they seem fairly easy to take care of.

When I was in college, we had the same limits. I just kept a 2.5 gallon tank with a Betta. My roommates thought it was really cool. Ten gallons. I'd go with a natural looking set up with 6 neon tetras, a betta and two of a dwarf gourami species such as a honey gourami. Or you could go with a couple of Rams.
