Confused on whether to get piranhas or not.

I hope you really take up our advice as you're just going to end up with cannibalism if you overstock with piranhas.......or your tank wont' be able to keep up with the bioload. There's no "if" they outgrow the tank, they will, faster then you realize.

Great deal on the tank but maybe you should sell it and use some of the money to get a larger tank

Would 45-50 gallon be okay for 3 rbp?
I wouldnt want to get 2 because then one will kill the other most likely.

No, you can get away with a 55 but you should aim for 75 or up. Red bellies can get up to 12 inches and guess how many inches wide a 45-50 gallon tank is?

i would think a 50 breeder would be better than a 55... 18" wide.

ok i got my 3 red bellies. $5.99 each! 1"1/2. they are awesome. i had some feeders in there to cycle the tank. as soon as i acclimated them and put them in, they were already eating. so i got some good ones. they eat with light on and while they were right in front of me. very cool. they always travel together so its what i wanted. the ph is a little high but i'm gunna buy some stuff to lower it.
