Confused on whether to get piranhas or not.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
don't worry about the ph, the fish will get use to it and over time as the tank mature it ph may even lower a bit by itself.
what hurts the fish is ph swing if you start using chemical the mess with it. stability is more important.

ok so just leave it? they seem fine. they arent breathing heavy or anything.

just leave it, as long as it doesn't fluctuate they will be fine.

what does fluctuate mean?

Fluctuate would be your PH going up and down. You want to keep it stable and let it naturally do it's thing. you don't want to mess around with chemicals

ok. its been like a week since i got them. they seem fine. i had 5 feeders in there. now there is 3/4 of one. since i have 3 of them. 1 is constantly moving and hunts while the other two just stay at the bottom next to each other. does this mean they are mating? idk. ive never had piranhas before.

Too small to be mating. I think you said you bought them at 1.5 inches? Way too young if that's the case

Nothing, that's normal. Just keep them well feed. I'd recommend lower the temps but you said your tank temps are naturally in the low 80s right? nothing you can do other then keep em feed if you can't lower the temp
