Consideration's when choosing short body fish.

Yeah you do need more room but we were all like that at one point. A few months ago I had 1 oscar, 3-4 blood parrots, and few other in a 75 gallon.
The worst of it for mine right now is the fry in a 40 tall, pretty sure they'd do much better in something much larger. Hence the bare bottom setup I'm using, it makes it easier to siphon excess food out every day. Titus doesn't seem to mind the 29 he is in, but then it has an overly large backfilter on it and I do constant small water changes. I hold the gravel vac part of my python sideways and skim the surface a few times a day, something like 25% total in a day.
Well he accepts her...he just doesn't seem that interested in spawning with her, despite her wantonly throwing herself at him! They have been together for a while now and sensing it wasn't gonna happen at this time I changed things up a bit.
I shuffled everyone else around (which seemed to make them happier), placed a divider in the 40 breeder and put Titus on one side, sb texas female on the other. She seems to like him immensely but his boisterous (to say the least) personality is a bit overwhelming for her. Her reception from the male Texas was much more peaceful. Judging from their reaction it will take some time and a few separations/reintroductions but I should be able to get them to spawn in the next 3-4 weeks. He is definitely returning her interest way more than he did with the pink con female and it's only been a day.

Not that difficult to do, the "flurry" of activity I noticed was her literally throwing herself at him. Getting right in his face and exhibiting the most over the top show of readiness to mate I've ever seen from a convict. He remained completely oblivious to her performance...oh I know he saw her, he just wasn't impressed.
