No a screenshot I took a while ago. I think it might be from an old member on the forum.Yours?
I guess some people look at them as an introductory cichlid and maybe once they advance their fish keeping they look at them as a fish for noobs .I was more noticing it on youtube not on forums. I should have specified. Its not direct but when they come up in videos most of these people disregard them as fish they are to good to keep and moved on from.
I don’t think you’ll encounter that here. That's kind of what I was noticing. I watched a video where I guy had to defend himself for having convicts for seemed like the half the video. People where giving him **** in his comments I guess. just seems weird to me. Youtubers hate on piranha as well. Ive had pygos for 14 years and enjoy them a lot. Currently a 10" Piraya and 12" Caribe.
If anyone hasn’t seen this photo...here is probably one of the biggest cons in captivity

Depends but most will never get this big. The con in the photo is anywhere from 8-10 inches. I’ve heard of some reaching 5-6 inches in the first 1-2 years and some taking longer but most males will reach 5-6 inches at some point. How long does it take for them to get that big????
If that convict is 10” that person holding the convict which appears could be a females hand has massive hands. More likely that convict is 7 - 8” max. If he is 8” thats a very big convict. I would have to see a ruler laid next to it to believe its any where near 10”.Depends but most will never get this big. The con in the photo is anywhere from 8-10 inches.
