Convict?

don't have any...and i don't want to add new fish to the tank with out QT first...so it would be a while. its only a 20 gallon tank i don't want to add to many more fish.

Kudo's on giving her a good home. It almost looks like her tail was bitten off at a young age, but still very pretty none the less. Sometimes these fish wind up having the best personalities.
Guppies should work but not as well because the convicts may just recognize that they are no threat. When my cons have eggs they don't attack my ropefish, only the other cichlids. But give it a try, my cons are much larger than yours, yours may still see the guppies as being large enough to be a threat. Even if they are not lol.

My guppies are feeders so they range from 1/4 to 1/2 so..even if a few get eaten its ok ^_^
if i don't add them will it cause problems between the parents when the fry hatch?....and how many do you suggest ? its a 20 gallon.
The female knows that the male is the father, so when they hatch she may still chase him off but probably won't do much damage to him. Male cons sometimes flip out and kill there "girlfriends" though. No idea why but I have seen it a few times. Also DO NOT put another male con in there. The two males will fight like crazy. Normally two males are okay but because they are spawning the father will kill any other male in there. I learned that the hard way, twice.
Tail looks cut off and not a defect and those stripes are not natural either they are tattoos which will fade with time. Good save !
