wait do we want them fat or not want them fat
wat was this for

There's a difference between bulky and fat. :)

If you want them to die of a heart attack in 6 months, go ahead and load them up. ;) Skipping a day each week (in my mind) will keep them burning off the excess fat and putting on size/muscle. I could be totally off base there too, but a lot of animals (even humans) work that way. Look at bodybuilder training plans.

These gais are all about providing wide open spaces for your pets
so they are gonna call just about everything overstocked
if you are trying to farm big fat cichlids just up the feeding and WC schedules
:screwy: I have never seen anyone on this forum call a tank overstocked that wasn't actually overstocked (with the exception of arowana tanks, but that's just a matter of opinion, not fact).

But anyway, to the OP: the point of keeping fish is to keep them healthy and happy, not to make them fat and ill to show them off to other idiots who actually think that sort of thing is "cool". Feeding your fish cereal is honestly one of the most ignorant ideas I have ever heard of on here.

If you want to "fatten up" your fish, then my only piece of advice for you is to give them away to someone who actually wants to take care of them.

You can see evidence of this by people that keep Oscars in a 10g for a year or more, rarely doing water changes, and they are still only 2 or 3 inches long.
I agree, but I also feel this is due to grow suppression brought about by poor water conditions. I change 25% of my water in my 100 Gallon 3 times a week.
Growth is never an issue nor is regular spawnings.

I don't recall meeting anyone who wanted to "fatten up" their dog.
Fish should be regarded as any other pet, unfortunately they are not.

I have seen some women that could use a few pounds here or there........

A bodybuilder, powerlifter or any serious athlete will never skip meals to burn off fat. In fact, an active athlete eats more food, with more calories more times a day to keep their metabolism up which helps them maintain lean muscle. Your body learns that it is getting food more often and will more efficiently use the good nutrients and rid the body of the bad. Thats a very broad view of the picture and I don't know if this same thing works for fish, but I did have 2 oscars that got 10mg a day of Winstrol, and they did not seem to grow any faster.

I was kindof thinking more like bodybuilders not working the same muscle group every day. Muscle needs a break to repair itself and grow. Also if you look at programs like P90X and others that follow the shock/variety type of training, costantly mixing it up to avoid muscles getting used to one particular type of workout.

My thought process was that if the fish gets used to eating 3x/day then it will likely eat less and balance out the amount that it would consume in a 1x/day feeding schedule. Skipping a day each week would have it not getting comfortable in the feeding schedule and consuming as much as it can since it doesn't know when that next skip day is coming. Who knows though, I'm not a fish fitness instructor or psychologist. :)

I think is risky feeding those...any dried food like this bloats fish instead of getting them fat...

Just don't feed them Jalapenos!

I think i'll add 10ml of hot sauce to my WC water
