Crabbing Accidents

Decided to go crabbing last week. The freezing cold (30 degrees) was bad, but when the wind picked up to 25 mph it became unbearable. Waves were about 2'-3' high, they would continually crash over the front whenever we headed into them. After a couple hours of this we gave up with only 2 Dungeness and 6 Red Rocks.

Luckily the Rogue Brewery is right on Yaquina Bay...

Try crabbing from the dock that runs right along the wall of the brewery. I have had good luck there.

Next time the weather is bad I'll try it. Don't have to wash off the boat, either!

The Worst things that happened to me when I went crabbing was when I filled up a small cage with some chicken and tied the cage with a wire to the whole net....then when I thought I tied the rope onto one of the benches next to the fencing....i figured I'd just throw the net over the dock so I did but next thing I knew some of the ropes was wraped around my right foot and when the whole net went over it didn't really pull me much just tug me right to the fence but when I felt the fence it was loose as F*ck!! and while trying to take the knot off my leg I felt another tug...and so i was like "Holy Sh*t Looks like a big group of crab took the bait...." but the real thing was a lone sea lion was trying to steal my bait but ended up pulling the whole rope out of the knot I thought was tough...then pulled my whole body right through the loose fence and over into the COLD AS* water! No Joke it was Hella cold....this was all happening during 2:00-2:30 am and in the San Francisco Bay...in one of the piers...

yup it manage to snag most of the bait we brought from the supermarket...:irked: we only got the chance to lure in 2 groups of crabs from each pull in the net...and only ended up that day with a 20 pound bucket...:WTF: i mean like we usually end up the days we go crabbing with like 100-250 pounds of bucket...depending on how long we stay that is...so we do a check in eat net every 15 minutes.

ya while deep sea fishing you would have a good fish on suddenly your rod just thumps and a dolphin starts to take your line lost probably aroun4 groupers and 11 snappers.

thats all part of fishing get use to it, dolphins are pretty cool anyways
i was a mate last summer for a month on my dads friends boat mostly for blue fin tuna, one day we caught about 100 4-5 ft dog fish, they all went back into the water gutted,i started jigging for cod and would snag dogfish haha
