Herichthys cyanoguttatus is the only "texas cichlid", it is found in ranges from southern texas to mexico, the Herichthys carpintis or "green texas" is found in mexico, its only called the green texas because (aside) from the color looks almost identical in terms of body shape. as for availability, im not sure where you live but my loca lwalmart recently started selling misc.south american cichlids and i often spotted texas cichlids in those tanks! or you can go here

asfor thered texas, that wouldnt be considered a member of the Herichthys genus b/c of its man made b/r,sorry im rambling

All rambling is welcome :)

I realize that the carpinte is not the "true texas" but after months of searching its the closest thing I'll get so I've made my peace :)

In my ideal situation I would have gone for the true tex, but like I've said it just doesn't seem possible.

But who knows what the future holds! For now, I'm looking forward to taking these home and staring :)

Yeah? Thats good to hear! I was quite nervous to hear that they were low grade or something! SO, I'm so relieved to hear that they seem good :)

Size they'll be I believe about 5-6 inches roughly (lady said they'd were about 16cm for the male and about 12cm for the female).

Price wise, they're 35 Euros per fish. Which is a bit on the pricey side but well worth it for me.

wow thats like $140 per pair+shipping, cost more than wild caught escondidos.
more money you spend, more you will like it.
