Damn Kids

Sorry for your loss:( When I was younger, I had to keep an eye on a couple of my cousins because I didn't trust them. Now a days, whenever family comes over with the kids, most of them are well behaved, but one is autistic and my cousins keeps a very close eye on her anyways. so if anything, she would be the one to keep an eye on, but I obviously can't get mad if anything happens.

If that happened to me I would have hog tied the little ****s and put them into a shed for half anhour then just stick them in the living room all tied up. I would have also gotten money out of their parents for the cost of the fish they killed.

The hog tying will traumatize them enough for them to stay clear of you and your fish.:naughty:

I'm really sorry to hear that. Depending on how mad it made you, I would have them over next year. When they are looking for gifts, just tell them you had to use that money to pay for a replacement fish and the air pump.

Kids will do anything for a gift.

Well, at least with some of my outer family it'd be like 'There only fish'. Money wouldn't save them then.

thats how my family members are too! they say you can always buy another one. but how can you find another one the same like the one your replacing? they dont know that we fall in love with our fish because of their personality. lol if you say you love that fish to my family they would say "your crazy". every time i have family over they always ask me how much and what kind of fish is that. i sometimes hate when they ask me to feed my fish with feeders because sometimes i already fed them. but its cool because they get to enjoy seeing how fish eats live food. the only thing i dont like are my little cousins!!!! they always hit the glass and scare the fish. the very first gar i had broke it's nose hitting the glass so hard because my little cousins where hitting the tank. i wish i could hide my tank sometimes because im scared of the little kids but my 210g is the main event when you walk in the door lol. :D:headbang2:D:headbang2:ROFL::ROFL:

this year I taught my nieces well, "touch the tank, or do anything to the fish (dropping toys into the tank, splashing the water etc..) and I will tell your mommy and daddy- you know they have connections to talk to santa. And you will never be allowed to come back and see my new pretty fish again."

I also have pictures and prices of the fishes in a folder like when i had my puffer (may he RIP.) But i'd print out this page http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/20097/product.web which shows the price and keep it handy. If one of my nieces kills a fish and the parents give me the "oh they dont know" I'd tell them- "I expect a replacement fish."

I found this online and i quote:
"In the Consequence of animals’ status as property is that if one is hurt or killed by someone other than his owner, the damages that can be recovered—if any—are minimal. Even if devastated, an owner can usually only be compensated for the pet’s market value. In general, courts do recognize or award punitive damages for Property damages, but not for “emotional distress” or “loss of companionship” in these cases."

*if that doesnt work- time to get some gates or velvet ropes to keep people and children at bay. Or a sign that says "Now entering the fish room, if one does not compose themselves or their unruly children we ask that you not enter or have a signed blank check in hand just in case.."

the "oh they dont know" is bs lol. they do know. if anyone says that to me id get even more mad lol

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I'm not the kind of guy that would demand someone to replace my fish, lol. I'm too nice. :)
I also blame the store that I bought the Knife from...somewhat, lol. If anyone hasn't heard the story already, I bought this guys, a Glass and an African. The African died from some internal issue, (Parasite possibly) and there was nothing that I could do. What are the chances of a Knife from the same store, dying within a few hours without a filter?
Either way, I don't think that I'll be buying anything from them for awhile, just because of past experience.;)
