there is a thick tree nearby with alot of birds.... but the wall is in the way, and the birds i find dead are pretty big, so being beginner flyers i dont know...
well baby birds.,..fledglings look pretty big.. but just do not have the flying down pat.. i just mentioned that because i had a nest near my pond and three babies ended up in the water.. but you live in a different climate and it could be they are just thirsty... and then get trapped.

None of which cause ich. The only thing that causes ich is the protozoa Ichthyophthirius multifilis.
but it does bring down the fish immune system which effects there suseptability to the parasite.;););););););););););););););););););););););););)

just people say being in cold whether makes you sick. being in cold whether impacts your immune system making you more likely to get sick.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

just got to look at the big picture some times ;)

also the ammonia will bring down your fishes immune system too causing ich.

If they a Starlings, I hope more die, just not in your pond of course...
Huh? Why?

I reckon the birds would be just trying to get a drink, but they don't have somewhere to perch properly, I reckon you just set up a simple eprch where th birds can land and drink water from the pond without falling in and drowning.

another dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that makes 3 this week...
8 in total.... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My neighbor used some chemical to kill insects and it ended up killing about half of the birds in the neighborhood. I found several in my pond, on my lawn mower and everywhere else. I was worried that my fish may eat one of the effected insects and suffer the same fate.

I love it great answer :headbang2

but make sure to take a video of it when it happens

I think it has to do with the location of your pond. Birds don't grasp the concept of reflection and their eyesight is different than ours. There's probably some strange reflection between the brick wall and the water surface that confuses them and they fly into the wall and then fall dead into your pond.

Try putting a trellis up on the wall and get some ivy or something to grow on it. It'll look better and maybe you won't have this problem anymore.
