DMD123 DMD123 , is peace river the substrate you use too? also do you get a kickback if I buy from Weco Wonders hahaah

lol, no kickbacks from them. But I do post stuff I like and Weco plants along wirh Peace River substrate I like a lot. I use the peace river in my 300g

Thanks everybody for your input and advice!

Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 and magpie magpie , that is a great idea about transferring things from the one tank to the larger one!
background: Just ordered a tie dye background. Kidding. Getting, the blue/black background.

kno4te kno4te , any recommendations for the plants with long roots besides fresh water lettuce

J Jaws substrate: is Quikrete pool filter sand poly safe?
I see that is $10 at home depot. and then I could buy a 5-10 pound bag of peace river to sprinkle on top, if necessary?

Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 , if I bypass the electric blue acaras, what "swimming" fish do you recommend? Want to get something that will swim around to have a good midlevel fish.

Dont use the quickrete stuff from home depot. Ive read quite a few stories about it being a nightmare to clean and that it compacts pretty good.

Find a pool store near you and get a bag of the sand meant for pool filters...should be the same price and not as fine as the quickcrete stuff so it wont kick up so easily and screw up your filters.

I mixed some of the pfs (pool filter sand) with some peace river a while back and liked the look of it. I'll try and find some pics if i can.

Just to give u an idea what the peace river and pfs mix looked like. If you go this route i would add more peace river than i did.

After carrying this around the store, I forgot the black/blue background. lol

Slowly making progress.....

Still trying to decide on the substrate.
Currently between
1) Peace River $60 for 50 pounds.
2) white or black Supranaturals sand ~$60 for 60 pounds
- will the white wash the bichirs out?
3)Or pool sand for $10. The only downside of the pool sand is that I couldn't do live plants :/ and I'm not sure if the brand I found is poly safe. Will post that later.

Washed it with hot water, is it plastic? If so do warm water. Or you can soak it in warm water in a tub just to remove any chemical or bacteria in it.
