Looks like some dose a couple days before and some at time of water change. Which do you do? And do you put it in a mesh bag and hang in the tank or dissolve in water and dose the water?

I do mines after WC, put in the mesh bag and leave it for 30-45 min the come back and squeeze the bag.
All you want from the ridx is the smoke/cloud that comes out, dont dump the whole ridx in the tank it makse a big mess, and make sure to read the ridx box first before buying it. This should be the right box, its about $10-$15 for the small box and will last you more that a year. 1tblsp for each 75g

I'm going to replace my Eheim spray bar. Once I get that I plan on cleaning the Eheim, replacing the spray bar, and then I'll dose with the Rid-X. I read that you should do it with a clean canister for the first dose. Even if that's not true I'm due for a cleaning anyway so might as well. Do you notice any cloudiness in the water like some mention or not really?

I does get really cloudy, but after few hours it should clear up, the next day your water should be crystal clear.
Yeah after you dose the tank turns white for a while haha. It does settle onto surfaces and clears the water... usually it's all but invisible by the next day. I dose with it after each water change, replenish what was last ya know? I can say when I added it to my 40 gallon while I was growing out the lungfish it seriously increased my maintenance times on the canister, and considering the nature of the stuff that comes out of a lung... that's saying something
Awesome. I would think this in turn would help keep nitrates more stable as well as all of the fish health benefits.
I won't say it's been miraculous with nitrates, but it definitely makes solid masses break down and end up in your mechanical filtration in much less... sludgy forms which makes for easier maintenance which could definitely have the unintended side effect of getting nitrates down a bit
If nothing else, it outcompetes harmful bacterias and helps safeguard your fish against those kinds of infections
thanks for the read. Have you tried the Earthworm or septa bacteria and found similar results to Rid-X? I know my LFS sells Rid-X, so just might give it a try! I also put some polyfil in the filter yesterday to help with the cloudiness.
