Delhezi with broken neck?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Is your water good?
High ammonia levels can promote bacterial infections of the central nerves system which cause spine curvature and erratic behavior.
If your water is or has been poor, I would try quarantining and treating with antibiotics.

Just putting this out there as to avoid tunnel vision around the possible trauma.

Water quality is perfect, I check it every week. Sometimes twice if im bored and need a short break from the wife lol.

I have seen this many times in CB polys, just a shame really. This is the main reason we only sell wild polys as well.

He is showing signs of improvement, being able to hold his neck in the proper position for a period of time, and even now able to bend it to the opposite side. Do you think this may correct itself and heal over in time?

Also what causes CB polys to have injurys like this?

I'm not sure if it will 100 % heal up or not. More than likely not, sorry. My largest suspicion is due to forced inbreeding within breeding farms.

mass breeding = all sorts of problems.

That's why I stick to WC fish now.

Wow. Good luck. Sounds like you are doing the right thing by playing it slow. I've never herd of this. Is their any way to prevent it?

don't buy CB fish. That's all.

I may have to stick with wc fish now, either way im hoping for the best for him. But in all honesty, im thinking hes probably going to be left with a slight kink in his neck for life. Hes still eating and acting normal, so if he doesnt mind it, neither do I lol its kinda funny watching him cruise around the tank now, hes always a little lop sided now because of his neck. Gives him a little more character I think.
