Delhezi with broken neck?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He seems totally fine. Acting normal, eating normal. Still has a kink in his neck so I think its probably safe to say its broken and most likely wont straighten itself out. If it does I imagine it will take a very long time. He swims a little funny because of it now, I dont know if I should feel bad or laugh. Hes got good motor function still so he can still go wherever he wants - its just a little wonky.

I can update with pics tomorrow, maybe ill crack out the dslr.

This may sound like a silly suggestion and i dont know if it will work, but what if u take a tube thats has the same girth as his body and use that as his hiding place/feeding spot. The constant exposure to being straitened out might help the neck heal and become straight, sort of like a self administered cast.

Once again its just an idea, it breaks my heart when i see injuries in animals, i just want to help

Hey quasar, that actually is a very good idea you got there. Im going to raid my garage first thing in the morning for a thin pvc pipe or something similar. Thanks so much for the suggestion, im going to give it a try. Worst case scenario is he doesnt use it, either way its definitely worth a shot.

Got a bunch of good shots today with both cameras, will have to pick through them and upload a bit later.

Couldnt manage to get decent DSLR shots, but ill upload some anyway. DSC01436.JPGDSC03931.JPGDSC03937.JPGDSC03938.JPGDSC03939.JPGDSC03944.JPGDSC03945.JPG

I agree, for anyone whos following this thread, you can see in just the last uploaded photo alone how he can hold his neck straight. I tried to get a pic during feeding, he can move his neck completely over to the opposite side, just cant seem to hold it for more than a few seconds. As soon as he relaxes or goes limp though, his neck is back to the kinked position.

Looking ALOT better! Miracles do happen....or it's just a very tough bichir!
