Delhezi with broken neck?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well there are 2 things I would do 1 try and straighten it back or put him out of his misery.
As I don't think he will be eating and will probably starve.

We have had cb endilicheri do this for no reason at all, seemed to be a nerve disorder, and eventually die,,, hence the reason we do not sell cb polys

Well he is still eating normal - he ate all the leftovers from my armatus tonight, so theres that. Also hes now actively cruising around the tank as usual and doesnt seem to be spazzing, not saying he wont do it - but seems ok for the time being. The only reason I didnt try and straighten it myself was the thought of putting a clearly hurting fish through more stress and pain and possibly killing him myself in the process. Somehow leaving him to do his own natural thing and hoping for the best seemed preferable to me. Believe me, I did strongly consider trying to do something myself, but who here can honestly say they know exactly what they are doing when it comes to something like that. Were not fish doctors, just fish enthusiasts.

I couldnt see him this morning when I looked, probably tucked away in his cave thingy. Im going to try and get some more pics tonight when im home to see if its looking any better.

I wonder if you can net it out and straighten up its neck.

Well no need for a net, hes comfortable with me with touching him and lifting him to the waters surface. He is able to put his neck straight himself, but seems when he goes limp, its still cocked off to one side. So im not sure what that means, if he can move around the tank normally without any signs of distress and now can actualy move his neck into proper posistion - just seems he has trouble keeping it there.

So im hoping after a good long while of recovery, he may end up back to normal. If he can move his neck straight, and even bend it to the opposite side of where the crook in his neck is, I assume that is a very good sign there may end up being no permenant injury. Still though, I guess only time will tell for sure.

Is your water good?
High ammonia levels can promote bacterial infections of the central nerves system which cause spine curvature and erratic behavior.
If your water is or has been poor, I would try quarantining and treating with antibiotics.

Just putting this out there as to avoid tunnel vision around the possible trauma.
