Delhezi with broken neck?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i got an endli from a friend that had a broken back/neck. started right at the neck and arched upward. ate and acted normal so i left it alone. after a few months the arch would move further back and twist til it reached the end. took maybe a year for it to straighten itself out

Just keep as good care of him as you can who knows. My sen has a deformed spine since I got him at 2", in 3 years he's grown about 1" but he's still swimming and eating like a champ. Just gotta take care of them and they could end up being some of your favorites! Just like my corm (that's what we named him since his fins are hardened yellow plates that look like little pieces of corn).

Lol I would have called him Korn after the band. But yea im hoping mine will work itself out in time, right now it doesnt seem to be bothering him any or limiting his mobility in anyway, other than he swims a little wonky now.

I dont know if I should be sad or happy, I actually found him a new home today. I stopped in to one of my lfs to grab a new bottle of prime (of course we all look at the fish anyway). So there I am standing infront of a bunch of small ornates and I overheard the guy next to me saying to his wife how bad he always wanted a bichir. So I quietly leaned in and told him I had a delhezi and gave him a quick overview of my fishes condition (the broken neck), and suprisingly his wife jumped all over the idea of "nursing it back to health". So I made a quick decision, and decided to let him go for the retail price of the lfs. He followed me home to pick up the bichir.

Im comfortable with my decision, but for some reason I kind of regret it now, even though im very sure he will be well taken care of. If I decided to get another delhezi, I will have to take the advice iv received from members here and get a wild caught.

He was, but at the time it just seemed like the right thing to do. Probably one of those "caught up in the moment thing". Its sad looking in the tank and not seeing him there, but its reassuring knowing he'll have two dedicated care givers who want to try and help. Iv never questioned my ability to take care of my animals, but at that moment, it seemed like he would be happy with them and probably for the best considering my stock. My Armatus just came off a two week hunger strike and has a new powerhead plus I rearranged his tank. So hes not too happy right now, not to mention I orderd a 6" Achara cat last week.
