Wow… you guys can get pretty wild around here… looks real bad to a new guy on the forum :D

I’ve kept an ESTABLISHED pair of adult JDs in a 55 gal ‘long term’ with no problems more than once…

I’ve introduced a male and a female (potential pair) to each other with a couple subdominant female tank mates of other species… and female killed the male… this was in a 4x2x2 120 gal…

I added several JDs to a 300 Gal Rubbermaid and the two pairs that formed both fought very hard, lip locking and tearing up fins… but once the pair formed and spawned, the aggression died down drastically.

It’s been my experience that regardless of tank size, the female wants to pair off with a male that is tougher than her. The females tend to fight hard against the male and force the male to ‘take control’ of the situation without killing her.

I confess I didn’t read all 4 pages of conversation, but I’m a Jack Dempsey fanatic and could resist sharing…

a 55 is waaaay too small for 2 adult JD's....what were you thinking? you should have put them in a 75 just to be safe

lol,, ok it seems to me that a 55 is just fine, there is no more agression as stated on page 2, NC_nutcase, thanks for sharing your experiences, by the way i think levick is being scarcastic due to people in this spacific post,

they are now a happy couple in the 55, they will be going to the 75 within the next 2 weeks i hope, to make way for the RD,

Yes you may if you like cause I works the internets like a pro :naughty:. The 75 is 18" front to back that is where you get your extra footprint from. I'm just trying to say that maybe you shouldn't be so hostile to an opinion you don't like. If you would calm down and think about it actually is a very good point. Sure I agree a 55 should be big enough to breed JD's but a 75 would be the ideal tank size and would help lessen aggression that sounded to be getting pretty bad in your tank.

so you can continue to own me if you want but I'm pretty sure every that is not delusional will agree that you got p3wnd

wow. i'm suprised there are still people like you trolling on forums, p3wnd? dude that was what troll's were doing like 3 years ago,, spell your words out like a big boy,,,,

thanks for expressing that yet another person needs a bigger tannk, and then thinking in some ways that owned somone, enjoy the rest of your time on this planet as a douche bag...

i was being sarcastic...and on that note...lets all be friends here mfk...but my advice to you nobuhiko is why waste money on a 75...keep your 55 and get something a lot bigger...that way you never have to hear the tank is too small bull@%*#...i have a 125, and a 55 i like to keep to grow out stuff ....bigger is always better, good luck man

I AGREE

by the way, i already have the 75, it's cycling right now.. there was a outbreak and a fungus so i started the 75's and 55's from scratch, there are all on the same filtration system

i might put them in there in two weeks,

i have 4 75's 4 55's above that , , , (30) 40 breeders and a 2 210, some of the members here have come to my store and got some fish from me, i am gonna take the jd's out of my office and bring them onto the showroom,, i doubt i will put them for sale,, but everything has a price

everyone be cool... i do appologize, i enjoy starting trouble,,, i will stop

thanks
